Each January, U-M's Art in Public Spaces class begins the process of making their three-dimensional kinetic sculptures for the Festifools parade, one of Ann Arbor's most beloved traditions. By the time they march through the street of downtown in April, most students have spent more than 80 hours on their creations that float 15-20 fee above the crowds. The event has become so popular that many community members and local children are inspired to create their own sculptures and march with the students.
